Summer Plans

Whoa! It's May!?! So a lot has happened. Here's the basics. I've been continuing to perform with PUSH as well as doing the solo show and teaching gymnastics in Penfield, NY. My gymnastics have improved with me finally getting my front tuck on the floor last week.

This will be my first and last year with PUSH Physical Theatre. I have grown a lot and loved being with them. We will part on good terms. I will be officially living in NY until mid-July when I hit the road after the PUSH season comes to a close. I am still talking with a couple different places near Rochester that I may come back and perform in this summer, we will see.

Right now it looks like I will be:

June 12 - Goodwill Church - Montgomery, NY
Week of June 20 - PUSH Physical Theatre Intensive - Rochester, NY
Week of July 4 - PUSH Pins Camp - Rochester, NY
July 13 - 15 - Sonshine Music Festival - Willmar, MN
Week of July 18 - Either Iowa or IJA Fest in Rochester, MN
July 31 - August 3 - Willmar A/G Circus VBS with Ponderings of a Fool - Willmar, MN
August 8 - 19 - Possibly Spencer Lake Kid's Camp - Waupaca, WI
September 1 - 3 - Lifelight Music Festival - Sioux Falls, SD
September - Malaysia and Singapore

And now, just for fun... here is a picture I took at the RIT Juggle-In in Rochester, NY.

Working

Hey y'all!

So this month I have programs in Minnesota and New York (more specifically Brainerd, MN and Rochester, NY). The LOL Show is hitting the road again and I'm doing some solo shows. On top of that you may be able to catch me performing with PUSH Physical Theatre. You can check the PUSH schedule on our facebook fan page. While not on the road I have not only been training with PUSH but I have began teaching gymnastics at a local training facility. It's been a blast! I am learning a lot too, being able to use the equipment to train. Perhaps I'll be able to get a couple of pictures up in the next couple of days.

The Price I'm Paying

Happy New Year!

With PUSH Physical Theatre it is probably no surprise to you that we do a lot of physical training. Of course, shows are no exceptions either. So before going into Christmas break we hit it hard preparing for all those sweets coming our way.

This is where the story begins, because with a week of company class left I decided it would be fun to go sledding. No problem there, except for the fact that I tried a little jump with a cheap snowboard. The jump wasn't packed down all to well and when the snowboard hit, it stuck... I didn't. Flying through the air I had very little time to reposition and I ended up landing on my left shoulder breaking my collar bone. The rest of the night was spent in the Emergency Room with a couple friends.

As far as training and performing is concerned, not being able to use my shoulder sets me back quite a way. I'm hoping everything is ready to go by the end of January. I appreciate your prayers during this time of healing.

Alternative Circus Examiner

Merry Christmas!

So I just started writing online about Alternative Circus. Reviews on shows, books, movies, as well as local happenings. I'll be updating a couple times a week. Let me know if there is something you want me to write on! You can always get a hold of me at BenComedy.com@gmail.com

There are already a couple of articles up. The latest discusses the recent TEDx conference in Rochester, NY. PUSH just happened to be the closer! (...and I work for them!)

The video was just posted online and you can view it and read my articles at:

Happy Holidays!

Thanksgiving was great and so was my Black Friday shopping. As I was out finding the deals I realized that I could offer my own. So here's the scoop. For the rest of December I decided to throw in a free Cross and the Clown magazine (featuring yours truly) for any orders from www.bencomedy.com/store.

Sadly this offer does not include the t-shirts and only lasts through December 31, 2010.

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving and that you will have a merry Christmas! Perhaps I'll see you at a show this December or in the coming year.

Minnesota Shows in October and What's New for November

So I've just put up a couple of new pictures on the facebook page. You can see my favorite here as well. I had a great time being able to see friends and family again as well as hit the stage in front of a group of new people.

This next week I will have my PUSH debut at Penn State. I have been training and rehearsing with the group for almost 2 months now, so we will see how it goes. Today the lighting designer for the show sat in on rehearsal. A little more tweaking and we should be good to go.

If you happen to be reading this and you are in the Pennsylvania area the evening show is open to the public. It will be the evening of the 9th.
